Reading

So far this year I have read seven books. My Goodreads account tells me that I am one book behind in my goal to read one hundred this year.

Those books are in order from best to worst:

  1. Red Seas Under Red Skies, by Scott Lynch
  2. Akata Witch, by
  3. Swimming with Piranhas at Feeding Time: My Life Doing Dumb Stuff with Animals, by Richard Conniff
  4. Rebel Belle, by Rachel Hawkins
  5. Growing Up Weightless, by John M. Ford
  6. The Gunslinger, by Stephen King
  7. The Life of the Skies, by Jonathan Rosen
My editor just emailed me the edits to Interia. I know how I'm spending the rest of my day!

End of the year wrap-up

In order to be a successful writer, one needs to read. A lot. Every year I make a goal of reading 100 books. This is a stupidly ambitious goal. But! This year I read 80 books (58 fiction and 22 nonfiction). Not all of them we good; in fact, some of them were downright horrible. Knowing why they're horrible helps me learn how not to be horrible! Not being horrible is a good thing. It's also useful knowing how the great books were written.

Happy New Year! May 2014 be your year of action and story progression, as 2013 was used strictly for character development.

The End of Nov

As November comes to a close, I find that the novel I'm writing for NaNoWriMo is not coming to a close. Sigh. I'm not sure how people write as quickly as they do. I will never be one of them.

How'd your novel turn out?

How is your NaNo novel coming along?

Mine is not cooperating. Not cool.

Words, it's time to work for me now. I am your master, bend to my will!
Look, an author page!
